Creativity
Many times if we just take a look at life, we feel that most of the things we do start to get repetitive in nature. Many times we just feel that life is just so monotonous that any joy that could be derived out of it is long lost. This in turn spirals us into a destructive spree, wherein we start evaluating each of our decisions that led us to that state of perpetual monotony. The human mind is a wondrously weird thing. It conspires against the seeker with the power of desire; and once that desire is acquired, the seeker no longer finds any purpose of its existence. Simply put, our lives are powered by our desires; but as we live through our life, we start to realize that our desires can never ever give us the true joy. Eventually, we find that the novelty of any achievement, of any fulfilled desires lasts but a second. After that, it’s back to the daily rote of life.
So how can an individual truly seek to remove this sense of monotony from his life? How can an individual ensure that every moment of his life is filled with new-found joy of discovery and freedom. Monotony is a prison that we all live in. Life is meant to be monotonous, because in monotony there is a sense of stability. When things don’t move, they offer a sense of security to the individual; and the individual starts to feel that he can finally relax and be at peace. But this new-found peace is itself short-lived.
Millions of people around the world live their lives in a similar turmoil. We slave through the days hoping to reach new and unchartered heights in our professional lives, but in that rat race we forget that there is something that we are indeed missing out on. We forget that we are missing out on the sensation of actually living our life. Most of us simple live through our lives; few hardly live it. There is a huge difference between the two; for on one hand, when living through life, all you are doing is passing time and hoping that one way or the other, the ordeal simply ends; however, the art of fine living lies in experiencing the joy that exists in every single breath that we take. This sense of joy and freedom is completely delineated from the shallow pleasures that we seek from the fulfillment of desires. No, it comes from deep within us, when our soul cries out in glee at the realization of the ultimate bliss.
This bliss can only be attained through creativity. When you create something out of nothing, you are in a way emulating God; you are in a way emulating your creator, who created you; and in that process of creation, his heart spur forth with happiness and unending joy which showered on us in the form of his blessings. When we create something on our own part, we experience that joy for ourselves and in that joy there is eternity. There is no shadow of grief and no hint of regret. In that creative moment, for one single fleeting instant, you are one with god.
That is the power of creativity; and it is this power that shatters the shackle of monotony and gives our soul the sense of freedom that it so heartily craves. The creation is but a thought of the creator and so are we the thoughts of God; when we are creative, when we innovate and improvise, we are giving expression to God’s thoughts and the joy that we get reflects on the joy that our heavenly father exudes, when he sees his own creation creating another one.
So go out into the world today with a new thought in mind; create something of your own; not for anyone else, but for your own joy; you deserve it; and by god you know that you need it. It is the only way that man can hope to survive in this world of machines and in the end still remain human. The intuitive heights that one can reach with creativity are unchartered indeed. One only needs to create and then one shall realize…
Amen.
